Beskrivning
Shubb is highly respected and established brand of musical accessories, primarily capos and slides. They’ve been in business since 1974 and are commonly the first choice for top professionals and discerning musicians.
Unlike other capos, the Shubb capo is not a spring or clutch type capo, they are not designed like a clothespin or a belt, they are designed like the human hand. And what is musician trying to do when using a capo ? Replicating the index finger and thumb on their fretting hand. These other types of capos are either non-adjustable with the tension they provide, or they rely on the user to try and squeeze it with the same amount of pressure each time, making the tension less reliable. With the Shubb, when you set the tension with the tension screw, it is accurate and doesn’t change.
A lot of beginners will inaccurately think that they have to mess with the tension screw every time they use it. If using it on the same guitar, it is a set it and forget it scenario. It’s just pop it on and off. Only if changing to a different guitar with different neck dimensions would they need to address adjusting the tension. It only takes a split second to put on and off a Shubb.
They are inherently more accurate with tuning stability and there’s less of a need to adjust tuning after applying them then other brands. They are also more stealthy and smaller than the competition and hands don’t bump into them as much when playing as the bigger capos.
Popular Shubb standard series models
C1- The most popular Shubb model, this will fit 90% of all steel string acoustic and electric guitars. They come in different finishes, polished nickel finish is most popular. It is 2” wide. The C1 is very popular with most guitar genres.
C1K – This is a C1 dressed up in a black chrome finish, they are not anodized. Functions just like C1, but is shiny black and even more stealthy.
C2 – 2.25” wide for flat fretboards(classical)
C3 – 2.25” wide with radius(12 string guitars, or wide neck with radius).
C4 – for vintage strats and teles, 7.25” radius necks.
C5 – 1.5” wide for banjo, mandolin and is very popular with bluegrass, Americana genres.
C7- A partial capo that covers (3) strings(either A,D,G or D,G,B) and when put on above covering A,D,G it simulates a DADGAD tuning, very popular with Irish and fiddle folk tunes, or some Led Zeppelin(“Kashmir”). When applied from below and covering D,G,B it makes a open major chord, very popular for playing slide without having to tune the guitar to an open A, D, E tuning.
C8 – Another partial capo covering (5) strings leaving either the low E or high E open. Very popular for “dropped D” sound. Think “Free Fallin’ “ by Tom Petty.
C9 or L9 – These are ukulele capos and are becoming more and more acceptable by the ukulele community.
Shubb Royale series capos are also available in some fancy titanium based finishes;
Gold or Rose Gold- looks just like real gold but much more durable than gold.
Paua Pearl – multi-colored, looks like a seashell.
In close, Shubb developed the best design for guitar capos in 1979 and have continued to refine and evolve them.
